A CASE STUDY OF ONE OF OUR VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMERS

Tricia's Crèche & Nursery Pre-School Owner : Patricia Mngomezulu
Business Address : 1076 Fihliwe & Sinqe Str, Siluma-View, Katlehong

Patricia is 50 years old and lives in Katlehong. She was employed at a sewing factory for 10 years. She left to start her own business. With the experience and knowledge gained in sewing, she was ready to undertake the challenge and start her own sewing business from home. At the beginning everything went well, but she had little knowledge of administration skills. A friend introduced her to the Shoprite Checkers Sowetan Women's Club. She joined and this membership led to her invitation to attend the Business Opportunities Workshop and WBS training programme sponsored by ESKOM. As a direct result Patricia obtained skills as a child care specialist in 1996. She abandoned the sewing business in favour of opening a crèche and nursery school. She converted her garage into the business venue.

With the knowledge she has gained, she was allowed to open a cheque account. This was something that she could not do before. She feels she is amongst the fortunate to have been exposed to Winning Business Systems. When she opened her business in March, she suffered a loss of R1 085.00. The loss was mainly due to the cost of equipment and other requirements. She also bought all her groceries from one shop, because she did not know that she could find better prices if she shopped around a little. In April, after attending the course, she knew better. She was aware of ways to reduce her expenses. In May, her business showed growth and she made a profit of R500.00.

Patricia plans to extend her premises to cater for all the applicants. By February next year, she wants to introduce computers, to help the children she cares for learn while they are still very young
